Class Descriptions


Dance Medley: is an introductory and exploratory class for the beginning level dancer aged 3-5. It is designed to give young dancers the access and ability to experience a “medley” of different genres of dance. Through this class dancers will be introduced to ballet, creative movement, jazz, lyrical, and musical theatre. Each week we will explore varying fundamental concepts from all 5 of these uniquely different genres, through a fun up-beat and engaging curriculum.


Creative Movement: is an introductory and exploration class for the beginning level dancer. This class is designed to allow the dancer to explore the art of dance through their own imagination, their own interpretation, and in their own creative way. Through guided exercises, dancers are able to explore movement, space, and instruments through our uniquely designed curriculum. This class is perfect for the independent thinker, but is also ideal for the opposite, and helps to facilitate internal processors to become more external communicators.

Ballet: beginning level classes focus on the basics of ballet through a fun, up-beat, and engaging curriculum. Our beginning level classes teach the fundamental concepts, technique, and terminology of ballet; while instilling, facilitating, and promoting artistic exploration of movement. Advanced levels are a continual study of fundamentals, extended to emotional/artistic expression and precision, as well as developing, refining, broadening, and exploring further into the dancer's technical ability and knowledge. Ballet is the basis and route of all other dance genres; it can strongly enhance, develop, grow, and advance any athletic activity. We strongly promote and encourage ballet to be taken in conjunction with other classes we offer.

Ballet/Tap Combo: introduces the fundamental basics of ballet and tap through a fun, up- beat, and engaging curriculum. The class is split into two 30 minute sessions to focus on the specific genre during the given 30 minutes. Each genre will focus on exploration of the given style through technical, artistic, and improvisational methodology. This class gives the dancer the opportunity to explore two different styles/genres in one class, and gives them the access to expand, grow, and cultivate their dance interests.

Ballet/Contemporary– introduces the fundamental basics of ballet and contemporary through a fun, upbeat, and engaging curriculum. The class is split into two 30 minute sessions to focus on the specific genre during the given 30 minutes. Each genre will focus on the exploration of the given style through technical, artistic, and improvisational methodology. Jazz: beginning level classes focus on the basics of jazz technique through a curriculum designed to engage the learner through games, exploratory exercises, and up-beat music. Our beginning level classes teach the fundamental concepts, technique, and terminology of jazz; while emphasizing the importance of artistic exploration of movement through improvisational approaches and methodology. Advanced levels are a further expansion upon the study of fundamentals and artistic exploration, as well as developing, refining, broadening, and exploring further into the dancer's technique ability and knowledge. Advanced level classes will explore classic jazz, broadway jazz, Fosse jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary jazz.

Jazz/Contemporary: introduces the fundamental basics of jazz and contemporary through a fun, upbeat, and engaging curriculum. The class is split into two 30 minute sessions to focus on the specific genre during the given 30 minutes. Each genre will focus on the exploration of the given style through technical, artistic, and improvisational methodology. Jazz Fusion: is for the advanced dancer and is a fusion of jazz,contemporary, and hip hop styles taking influences from cutting edge styles trending in dance. This class moves at a fast pace and is designed to inspire dancers in different ways than traditional jazz classes.  Through intricate choreography and combinations the dancers will be challenged through heavily detailed work, stylized and nuanced movement, and an idiosyncratic approach that challenges and inspires the dancer. 

Contemporary: Contemporary dance blends several types of dance into its own unique style. It includes elements of ballet, jazz, modern, and even hip hop. Contemporary dance encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions while being able to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotion. Contemporary focuses on spatial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, leaps, turns, efficiency of muscle usage, and safe body alignment. Characterized by its versatility, contemporary dance can be danced to any style of music and unite with other dance forms to create a new style of movement.

Contemporary Fusion: is for the advanced dancer and is a fusion of jazz and contemporary styles taking influence from cutting edge styles trending in dance. Contemporary Fusion, while similar to Jazz Fusion, differs in that the undertones are of a contemporary nature with jazz-styled nuances and undertones, modern dance inspiration, and acro influences ; whereas Jazz Fusion focuses heavily on Jazz influences with contemporary undertones. Contemporary Fusion varies in the tempo, rhythm, and overall pace of the class from week to week, and is constantly evolving and changing. Through intricate choreography and combinations the dancers will be challenged through heavily detailed work, stylized and nuanced movement, and an idiosyncratic approach that challenges and inspires the dancer.

Improv: dance improvisation is the process of creating movement without pre-planning any steps or choreography. Dance improvisation is a tool necessary for the continued growth and success of any dancer, at any level, and for any age. This class will engage students in exercises and improvisational structures to heighten their awareness, broaden their individual movement vocabulary, and develop skills in composition. This class will also introduce basic parenting skills, to further educate, progress, and build upon a dancer's holistic understanding of dance. Dance improvisation helps dancers to become more confident, independent, and problem solving thinkers/dancers.
